It was actually a very good measure for the Phillies. Ibanez was the best option available, with the exception of Manny. While it is true that the Phillies add another to the left hitter in the lineup, Ibanez has always hit well against lefties. Last year against lefties batted .305 with a OBP .371, .497 SLG and .869 OPS. He hit .288 against right-handers and all his other numbers fell below what he was capable of dealing with southpaws. A good measure for the Phillies and be a fan favorite.
